My musical education consisted of Buddy Holly, The Jam, and, the largest part of the curriculum, The Beatles.
Administered strictly by a staunch headmaster, my dad, I like millions have consumed a healthy dose of Fab Four since infancy.
However, for those too young to remember, The Beatles' meteoric rise from the wooden boards of the Cavern to the Ed Sullivan Show, many fans have never lived in an era where a new, unheard Beatles song was realised.

That is about to change, as yesterday it was announced that the "last Beatles song" - written and sung by John Lennon and completed by Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr - is to be released.
The song is called Now and Then, a poignant title, written and sung by the late John Lennon, has been developed and worked on by Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr over four decades.
Abbey Road was the last Beatles album ever to be recorded, and along with the iconic cover, gave the world songs like Here Comes the Sun, I Want You (She's so Heavy), and Something.
It has gone down in musical history as one of the greats, and it might be The Beatles' finest work. I’m excited to hear the new song and Paul McCartney has said that it will be a “genuine Beatles recording” but I have my concerns.
One of the band's main strengths is their longevity, they have been able to span decades and bring younger fans into the fold year on year. This is down to their music and cultural impact, but I also feel the fact the band broke up in 1970 has aided their ability to stay in the minds of the public.
Unlike other bands who do not know when to quit, and play until their voice, and albums go stale. The Beatles ended on top, at their best, with a legacy to match. I want to hear the new song and I’m open to the idea but a part of me also thinks that the Beatles should be left alone.
