Bill Kenwright
Liverpool Institute graduate Bill Kenwright's acting talent saw him invited to join the National Youth Theatre. He famously appeared on Coronation Street as Betty Turpin's son and was also in the Liver Birds and Carry On films before becoming a successful theatre impresario and film producer. A lifelong Evertonian who used to watch matches from the boy's pen, Kenwright joined the Goodison board in 1989. He was involved in a consortium seeking to buy the club in 1994, which lost out to a rival bid from Tranmere Rovers chairman Peter Johnson. He headed another consortium that bought the club from Johnson five years later and succeeded Sir Phillip Carter as chairman in 2004.
