A comedian who is said to have “changed the landscape” of British TV is bringing her show to Liverpool.
Jordan Gray’s Is It a Bird? is stopping at Liverpool’s Playhouse next week - Friday, September 15. The show brings together Jordan’s love of superheroes, her strong Essex roots and life as a transgender woman in an hour of comedy that “resonates within and far beyond the LGBTQ+ community”.
The 34-year-old told the ECHO: “I know Liverpudlians to be a fun bunch. That's never in question. My job now is to try and live up to the level of comedy Liverpool is known for. I'm going to give it a good go. I was lucky enough during my career as a singer to play Liverpool a few times. I'm looking forward to dragging the Liverpool comedy crowd out for a night.”

This time last year many people may have not heard of Jordan - something which she recognises. However, in the last 12 months, she has made a name for herself in the industry.
In August 2022, after a decade in the music business and a run on The Voice, Jordan took her show to the Edinburgh Fringe. Following this, and the buzz the show created, Jordan sold out her first two-week run at Soho Theatre, London.
All eyes would be on Jordan once again come October last year when she “changed the landscape of British TV.” Appearing on Channel 4’s Friday Night Live, Jordan ended her memorable performance by ripping off her pink suit and stripping naked - “bringing trans bodies a level of visibility hitherto never reached within the mainstream national press”.
Jordan, who was named amongst the top influential women in the UK By Diva Magazine, added: “I think a big part of representation is authenticity. I'd be doing you all a disservice if I turned into a politician overnight to tackle these problems. So, I’m going to stick to doing what I do best and slip in a few positive messages where I can.
“I don't think this show would be touring the world if there wasn't a gap in the market for ‘happy trans stories’. Suffice to say, it probably feels a bit bleak out there right now - I get it - but I promise you this too shall pass. And I'll do my best in the meantime to pop a smile on your beautiful mugs, whoever you are."
