Elle Mulvaney has established herself as one of Coronation Street's most important cast-members.
The 21-year-old soap star has played Amy Barlow on the Cobbles since 2010. The actor has won acclaim for her part in a sensitive storyline as Amy was raped by Aaron Sandford.
Elle was interviewed on Lorraine this week and said her character is still scarred by the harrowing incident. She said: "Amy has really struggled off the back of the rape and she's really trying to find who she is now.

"The woman we saw before was really headstrong, confident and sassy." Amy is embroiled in one of the show's major storylines as she will try to help another potential sexual assault victim, which lands her in trouble with the police.
Elle said Amy's previous characteristics are coming back with the new storyline and spoke about the importance of tackling such a significant issue on the show. She said: "Because people can relate to characters like Amy, people who have been victims of it can watch and see how Amy deals with it and find comfort with it.
"They can see somebody else has gone through it and know they're not alone with it." Elle has been on the show for 14 years but has no intention of leaving anytime soon as she is enjoying the show more than ever.
She said: "I'm so fortunate. I'm surrounded by the best people. Growing up with Steve and Tracy as your parents was amazing." She added: "It's the best job."
Away from the screen, Elle is in a happy relationship with her boyfriend, Liam Scholes, who she met on the Coronation Street set. Liam played Eli Higginson on the show in the Seb Franklin murder storyline and went on to portray Noel McManus on Waterloo Road.
The two regularly share updates from their life away from the screen on Instagram. Liam shared a message of support to Elle after her appearance on Lorraine as he said: "Gorgeous. You killed it x"
Elle is also close friends with her Corrie co-stars and regularly enjoys days out with Harriet Bibby, who plays Summer Spellman. Harriet spoke to the ECHO last year and revealed the two went on a trip to Liverpool that didn't quite go to plan.
She said: "We went to do some Christmas shopping in Liverpool ONE, but we didn't really buy for anyone other than ourselves so it didn't go really well.
"It's just a bit different because often me and Elle will hang out. We've been into Manchester a lot so we thought we'd try somewhere new. " In the chat, Harriet said she enjoys travelling to Merseyside and heaped praise on her favourite spot for a night out. She said: "We didn't go this week, but we love going to Concert Square. It's so fun. It's always a good night out."
