Cronton Sixth Form College is excited to welcome Year 11 pupils to its upcoming open events.
The college, rated Outstanding by Ofsted, will be welcoming prospective students and their families to learn about the wide range of A-level courses, vocational courses, and T-level courses on offer. There will be opportunities to meet the outstanding college tutors where visitors can discuss the courses in detail, and to meet the fantastic student ambassadors. Families will also be able to tour the college's brand-new learning facilities and enjoy refreshments at the new Starbucks coffee shop on campus.
The open events will be the perfect time to visit the campus, as they are the first events to showcase the college's modern new facilities following a £20m investment. The renovation included installing new, modern STEM facilities, a simulated hospital training environment for health care and nursing students, an eSports gaming classroom with the latest gaming PCs, a sensory and 3D immersion room to experience virtual environment settings, and a new sports centre complete with a fully equipped gym.
Choosing the next steps after school is a big decision for young people, but the college’s advice and guidance team will be on hand to help pupils make the right choice. They will provide information about the variety of courses on offer, the admissions process, the support on offer which has earned the college the Advice and Guidance Matrix Award, and information about transport to the college - including the free bus pass.
The free bus pass allows students to travel on Warrington’s Own Buses and is available to all full-time students who live more than 1.5 miles away. There are 18 direct college buses available to use, so getting to college is easier than ever.
Visitors are encouraged not to miss the principal’s talks, which will be held in the Cronton Playhouse Theatre and take place at 6pm and 6.45pm on Thursday, October 5.
College principal Mary Murphy will take to the stage to talk about the fantastic results achieved by the class of 2023, with Level 3 students achieving a 99% pass rate this summer, along with some of the brilliant destinations they have now progressed to. Head of Cronton, Leeann Bellfield, will also be on hand to discuss the courses available and the combinations learners can choose.
Head of A-levels, Dan Adams, will talk about 'The Cronton Experience' and the many super and extracurricular opportunities available for students to enhance their college experience, including the High Achievers Programme, the Professional Studies Programmes and the college’s Centres of Excellence in STEM, performing arts and sport.
Booking is not necessary for these popular events – families can simply arrive at the times below and they will be greeted by the friendly welcome team.
