The fallout from Everton's Premier League points deduction continues.

The Toffees are set to appeal the decision, and a number of other clubs, including Leicester and Leeds, could seek compensation.

It means the club move back down into the relegation zone, though a number of pundits are under the impression that Sean Dyche is doing a successful job and will steer the club to safety this season.

Meanwhile, speculation continues surrounding possible punishments for Man City and Chelsea, who now face punishment should they be found guilty of respective financial breaches.

Jarrad Branthwaite captains England to victory

A memorable night for Jarrad Branthwaite, who captained England Under-21s to a 3-0 win over Northern Ireland at Goodison Park!

The young centre back made sure the visitors didn't get a sniff at goal, and even almost got on the scoresheet with a header glanced narrowly wide early in the first half.

Jarrad Branthwaite asking price

TEAMtalk believe that if Manchester United want to sign Jarrad Branthwaite from Everton, they would have to shell out close to £30m.

Their recent report plays on the Blues' points deduction and the financial troubles that caused it, stating that funds need to be raised from sales in the future.

Premier League vote claim: opposing clubs named

Earlier it was reported that the vote amongst Premier League clubs failed to pass the motion to block loans between related-party clubs during the upcoming transfer window.

Now, the Times claim to know the identity of the seven clubs in opposition and Everton are on the list.

The other six that made sure the vote failed were Man City, Chelsea, Newcastle, Wolves, Nottingham Forest and Sheffield United.

Everton, of course, are hoping to be taken over by 777 Partners, who own a network of football clubs globally.

Youssef Chermiti message against racist abuse

Summer signing Youssef Chermiti has taken to social media to hit out racist abuse received whilst on international duty, and criticised the authorities for failing to act.

Portugal's Under-20s, who the Everton striker plays for, were facing Italy on away soil today and lost 2-1, however the talking point is racist abuse directed at Chermiti and his team-mates.

The 19-year-old's statement read: "Very sad about what happened today in the game, I know nothing will happen to the player who called me a monkey... but I just wanted to leave here my frustration that my team-mates and I are feeling at the moment.

"Players and fans continue to say and do hat they and in games and no action is ever taken by the referees!! It doesn't matter what colour, size or nationality we just want to play football.

"SAY NO TO RACISM !!!"

Everton shared his post on their own social channels with a message of support:

Premier League clubs fail to pass motion against related-party loans

Everton and the other 19 Premier League clubs were voting on whether to ban related-party loans in the January transfer window - a motion that has now seemingly failed.

Fresh reports say that 13 clubs voted against, seven for, meaning the vote did not meet the required 14 to pass.

In theory it means Newcastle, as an example, can loan players from PIF-backed Saudi Pro League clubs. There has been speculation that former Wolves midfielder - now with Al-Hilal - will make that exact switch.

Independent commission to rule on compensation

In the latest report by the Times, it is claimed that the same independent commission that were responsible for overseeing Everton's points deduction will be the ones that decide if other clubs should receive compensation for financial damages connected to the case.

Burnley, Leicester City, Leeds United, Southampton and Nottingham Forest are all part of a legal action connected to events, being handed a timeframe of until 28 days after the ruling to pursue a claim.

The commission is headed by David Phillips KC, judge Alan Greenwood and Nick Igoe, the former financial director at West Ham United.

Ex-Manchester United striker warns his former club about Everton

Andy Cole has stated that a draw for his former club Manchester United against Everton this weekend would be a "good result," owing to the fire that Sean Dyche's men have burning inside them following last week's points deduction.

Via Football365, the ex-striker warned the Red Devils: "This will be a really tough game for Manchester United. I think Everton are going to be really galvanised and they’ll want to respond positively after they were handed the points deduction. They know that they need to win games to get themselves out of the bottom three.

"Despite the victory, it wasn’t an easy game for Manchester United last season and if they can come away from Sunday’s game with a draw, then I’d take that all day long.

"Everton will be absolutely devastated that they were deducted ten points, but they’re in good form and Sean Dyche has got them going. Manchester United have been very unpredictable so far and if they can come away from the game with a draw, then that would be a good result in my opinion."

Barcelona could eye Everton duo

Barcelona could make a move for Everton duo Idrissa Gana Gueye and Amadou Onana after Gavi suffered a season-ending injury, according to Cadena SER.

19-year-old Gavi suffered an ACL injury while playing for Spain on Sunday night, leaving the midfielder sidelined for the rest of the season.

Now, a report in Spain claims the Everton duo could be drafted in by the La Liga giants to boost numbers in the engine room.

Tottenham Hotspur could be investigated by FA

The FA is reportedly prepared to "review evidence" of Tottenham Hotspur breaching their rules when selling Jermaine Defoe to Portsmouth in 2008.

An investigation by The Times, claims that Daniel Levy and Harry Redknapp dealt with an unlicensed agent while negotiating the sale.

The report adds that Luton Town were deducted 10 points in League Two for breaching similar rules in the same year.

It comes just days after Everton were docked 10 points for breaching the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability rules.

Fernandes knows what to expect from Everton

Speaking to Four Four Two, Bruno Fernandes admitted he expects Everton to be a difficult destination for Manchester United on Sunday.

The United captain said:

“We have to focus game by game, now we have an away game against Everton and it’s really difficult to play there.

"They just lost 10 points, so we know that they need points, they are going to fight for their points, so we just have to find the focus to go to Everton and win the game, because we know that in the Premier League, these kinds of games are always tough.”

Lee Btts and Darren Cann will be Brooks' assistants at Goodison, while Chris Kavanagh will be on VAR duty alongside Eddie Smart at Stockley Park.

Affiliated transfer dealings rules to be outlined at Premier League meeting

Liverpool and Everton will place crucial votes which could significantly change the ruling of third-party transfers in the Premier League - at the latest shareholders' meeting on Tuesday.

Premier League clubs will convene at the latest shareholders' meeting on Tuesday afternoon to vote on a range of topics, including whether a temporary ban will be implemented to stop clubs in the division from signing players from affiliated clubs.

Fourteen out of the 20 Premier League sides will need to vote in favour of temporary legislation, which will prohibit the likes of Newcastle United and Manchester City from exploiting loopholes from their associated parties in the January transfer window until the Premier League reaches a permanent conclusion next year.

The vote comes at a time when an increasing number of clubs in the Premier League are part of a stable of clubs controlled by an owner, with Brighton & Hove Albion, Manchester City, Newcastle United and Crystal Palace just a few examples.

In the case of Newcastle, who are owned by Saudi Arabia's PIF - who also own four Saudi Pro League sides - they have been linked with a January move for Al Hilal midfielder Ruben Neves, who plays for one of the four state-owned clubs.

If the ruling is to be passed, it would mean Neves would not be able to move to Newcastle in the January window.

For Everton, it would mean should their 777 Partners takeover go through then they would be unable to sign players from any of the Miami-based firm sides from France, Belgium, Germany and Brazil.

Duncan Ferguson makes Everton prediction after 10-point Premier League deduction

Everton icon Duncan Ferguson believes his old club will have no problem staying up - despite their 10-point deduction for breaching the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules.

The Blues were docked 10 points on Friday after they were found to have breached profitability and sustainability rules for the three-year period ending in the 2021/22 season. The decision was made by an independent commission following a disciplinary hearing that took place last month.

Everton are expected to appeal against the punishment this week, believing it to be a 'wholly disproportionate and unjust sporting sanction'. The appeal must be heard and concluded before the end of the season.

The punishment meant that Sean Dyche’s side dropped immediately from 14th in the table to second from bottom, with only goal difference separating them from Burnley. However, Ferguson believes the Blues have a good enough squad to still avoid relegation to the Championship.

"How good are they doing at the moment?" Ferguson, currently manager of Inverness Caledonian Thistle, told BBC Radio Scotland's Sportsound. Unfortunately, they got the points deduction, which I knew was coming, but they'll still be safe - they've got a good enough squad, no problem."

777 Partners 'privately reaffirm' Everton commitment

According to a report in the i, EVerton's prospective owners 777 Partners have doubled down on their commitment to the Goodison Park club despite last week's 10-point Premier League points deduction.

Miami-based 777 are currently having their ownership credentials reviewed ahead of buying Farhad Moshiri out of his majority stake at Goodison Park. The report by the i claims that "nothing has changed" in regards to their Merseyside takeover despite the prospect of being sued by the likes of Leeds United, Burnley and Leicester City.

International Blues round-up Vitalii Mykolenko

Vitalii Mykolenko suffered Euro 2024 heartbreak against Italy last night in Leverkusen.

The Blues defender was in action for Ukraine against Italy on Monday, with the winner sealing automatic qualification to next summer's final in Germany.

A stalemate saw Italy qualify as runners-up, joining Gareth Southgate's England as one of two teams to advance from Group B.

Controversially, though, Ukraine appeared to be denied what appeared to be a clear penalty in added time at the BayArena, with Mykhailo Mudryk going down under a challenge from Bryan Cristante. However, the ref ruled otherwise and Italy secured their passage to next summer's European Championships, where they will defend their 2020 crown.

Ukraine, meanwhile, will enter the play-offs in the New Year.

Everton points deduction: fears of further sanctions after Premier League position revealed

Everton could face further investigation by the Premier League over some of the same years it has already been punished for, raising concerns the club could be sanctioned twice for the same offence.

The 10 point deduction handed to the club covers a breach for a financial period stretching over the 48 months leading to the end of June 2022, with the 2019/20 and 2020/21 seasons averaged due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

A new assessment of the club’s position will begin once Everton has filed its accounts for the year to the end of June 2023. It will cover that year and the two that preceded it, which formed part of the investigation by the independent commission that sat last month.

The prospect of an overlap has sparked concern that, should the Premier League seek to argue a further breach has been committed, it could be seeking to penalise Everton twice for the same set of issues. The feeling is aggravated by the Premier League appearing to have already revealed a critical position on the club’s activity during last season.

Under profit and sustainability rules the finances of Premier League clubs are assessed over a rolling three year period. A combined £105m of losses is permitted across that timeframe. Everton was found to have exceeded that limit by £19.5m for the timeframe ending in the summer of 2022, hence the referral to the commission that handed down a damning judgement on the running of the club alongside the 10 point deduction.

Michael Ball: I'm still in disbelief at the Everton points deduction - the Premier League is not fit for purpose

"Like pretty much every Everton supporter, I was stunned when the news dropped on Friday morning confirming we had been docked 10 points.

"Even as I sit here now, the news hasn’t quite sunk in. I’m still in disbelief at the punishment imposed by the independent commission.

"But this is Everton, and we have always been treated harshly. Those who had concerns about the process were clearly right to be worried.

"For me, being deducted 10 points feels incredibly excessive. Granted, a breach has occurred, but to be treated the way we have been is just wrong."
