A number of Grimsby Town FC fans are accused of the "most appalling" Hillsborough chants on a train after attending a match on Merseyside.
The ECHO understands the group of fans, who were pictured on the TransPennine Express train with a Grimsby Town flag, carried out the chants at around 9pm on Saturday, October 7. The group are accused of "the most appalling Hillsborough and Tommy Robinson chants" on the Warrington Central to Manchester Piccadilly train.
Robinson, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, is a prominent far-right and anti-Islam activist. Grimsby Town were on Merseyside on Saturday where the club played Tranmere Rovers in a 2-2 draw.

A spokesperson for Grimsby Town told the ECHO today: “Grimsby Town have reached out to the British Transport Police regarding this alleged incident. We do not condone any discriminatory chants from anybody associated with the club but we will be making no further comment at this time."
Chris Jackson, managing director at TransPennine Express, said: "We were made aware of anti-social behaviour on-board one of the trains between Warrington and Manchester last weekend. The incident has been referred to British Transport Police and we will continue to work with officers to assist any subsequent investigation."
Mr Jackson added: “We take a firm stance against anti-social behaviour on our trains and at our stations and will do all we can to take action against anyone responsible for such behaviour.
"Thankfully, the railway is a relatively low crime environment, but when incidents do happen our customers can seek help from a member of staff or contact British Transport Police either by calling 0800 40 50 40 or by texting 61016. In an emergency people should always call 999."
After the chanting was highlighted on X, formerly known as Twitter, Superintendent David Rams from British Transport Police posted: "I am in charge of operational policing for BTP in this area. Have you reported it to us?? text 61016 or give us a ring 0800405040 so it can be allocated to one of my team to investigate."
The ECHO has approached British Transport Police for comment.
