King’s Leadership Academy Liverpool in Dingle has retained its 'Good' Ofsted rating with the inspectors finding the school an 'ambitious place for pupils to learn'.

A two-day visit in September identified the school’s highly inclusive culture where pupils 'feel happy and safe' and have a strong sense of character, self-belief and determination to succeed.

The report found that pupils’ personal development is 'a high priority' and that since the last inspection in 2018, work on the curriculum has made it 'broad, balanced and challenging' leading to pupils valuing 'the experiences they have in lessons'.

Inspectors also noted that the topics covered are 'relevant to the backgrounds of pupils, as well as the life skills essential to their success' and where 'personal development is a high priority at the school'.

Activities and experiences

According to the inspectors, extra-curricular activities and experiences, such as the combined cadet force, outdoor pursuits and residential visits, also develop self-confidence and resilience.

Kate Bowker, the Lead Inspector, also praised the school for its work with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) pupils, where staff 'swiftly identify pupils with SEND' ensuring that they are 'well supported' and addressing individual pupils’ additional learning needs.

Real team effort

Principal Scott Cordon is delighted: "The report comments on our teaching and support staff's work to ensure that all pupils have the best opportunities we can provide.

"It is pleasing to see the positive comments about the inclusive environment we have here at King’s and the warm and respectful relationship between pupils and staff.

"These findings only come from a real team effort from the school community of teachers, pupils, parents and governors and this report is something we can all be very proud of."

Great Schools Trust CEO Shane Ierston added: "I am especially proud of the pupils at King’s Liverpool and the professional way in which they represented their school during the inspection."
