The M57 has been closed due to a crash.
Merseyside Police said there is a "temporary full road closure" at the end of the M57/Switch Island due to a crash. According to traffic management system Inrix there is "stop-start traffic".
Travel time is reportedly around 45 minutes. One eyewitness said a car "overturned" near the turn off for Aintree Racecourse. A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "Please be aware that there is a temporary full road closure at the end of the M57/Switch Island due to a Road Traffic Collision. Please seek an alternative route."
