Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez were the heroes for their countries at the expense of Liverpool team-mates Alisson Becker and Alexis Mac Allister overnight.
It was an emotional night for Colombia and Diaz, as the player's father Luis Manuel Diaz watched on from the stands - attending a match for the first time since his kidnapping at the end of October.
Diaz helped Nestor Lorenzo's side to a much-needed three points following a series of draws in the CONMEBOL World Cup qualification group. The 26-year-old scored a late double, in a four-minute salvo, to come from behind and beat Brazil.

Arsenal's Gabriel Martinelli opened the scoring after just four minutes, with Fernando Diniz forced into a goalkeeping change pre-match as Alisson replaced Manchester City's Ederson following his withdrawal.
As the game entered its dying embers, up stepped - or jumped - Diaz as he nodded home twice to turn the heated clash on its head. He ghosted in to head from Cristian Borja's cross into the box before rising to head past his Liverpool team-mate at the back post, his third headed goal in as many games for club and country.
Both Alisson and Diaz shared an emotional moment on the pitch at full-time following a horrendous ordeal for Diaz and his family.
The triumph takes Colombia up to third, two points clear of Brazil, and one point behind Nunez's Uruguay, who enjoyed a historic night in Argentina.
Nunez powered forward in the 87th minute before lashing past Emi Martinez to rubberstamp their win at Boca Juniors' La Bombonera.
Barcelona's Ronald Araujo silenced the home crowd after 41 minutes but the Liverpool and Uruguay number nine finished with aplomb to move La Celeste to within three points of the top.
For Argentina and Mac Allister, it was a miserable night on home soil. Their 100 percent record in the qualification group was shattered, as well as their unbeaten record which dated back to November 2022, when Saudi Arabia beat them at the World Cup.
Mac Allister's night was over at half-time as he was replaced by Lautaro Martinez. Both Argentina and Brazil will be looking to return to winning ways when the two giants lock horns in Brazil on November 22.
