Peter Kay fans have been left feeling 'disgusted' after spotting tickets for the show are now being resold for £1,000.

Pre-sale tickets for the tour were due to go on sale at 10am this morning, but many fans were unable to access the app even an hour before the launch. Fans have already spotted tickets being listed for £1,000 on Viagogo, as well as almost £300 for his M&S Bank Arena show.

It comes just days after Peter Kay made a point of saying his ticket prices would start at £35 due to the cost of living being "at an all-time high". He added that this was "the same price they were" on his previous tour in 2010.

Virgin Media spoke out this morning after fans of the comedian expressed their anger via social media. In a statement, a spokesperson for Virgin Media O2 said: "We've seen unprecedented levels of visitors to our Priority platform for Peter Kay tickets.

"As a result, some customers are experiencing difficulties trying to use the app and website despite us putting additional resources in place to help cope with such demand. We apologise and we're doing everything we can to get it back up and running as soon as possible."

O2 said in a tweet: "We’re seeing unprecedented demand for Peter Kay tickets & we know a lot of you can’t access Priority. Sorry, we’re working on it. Please be patient; this is by far the highest demand we’ve ever seen for Priority Tickets in 15 years. The presale lasts for 48h so keep checking."

Fans of the comedian have already spotted the resale ticket prices. One Twitter user said: "I think it's time that artists refused to allow touts to resale tickets. @glastonbury have got it right by only allowing who buys the tickets to attend. I think it's about time this came in for more artists... £1k a ticket on resale...I don't think so."

A second Peter Kay fan said: "If the sites down how tickets already on resale over £250 Another example of f*** the public & as long as we get our money who cares who buys them, ordinary punters or touts Disgraceful, @peterkay_co_uk should step in seeing as the strapline is low prices in these difficult times."

A third tweeted: "Wow just like Coldplay tickets no one can get hold of them. I have O2 priority and nothing but tickets sellers have them and sell them for more than face value disgusting shame on them. I had tickets for your last concert shame we could not redeem them for this 1."

The comedy icon will visit the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool on Friday, January 6, and Saturday, January 7 2023 as as part of a huge UK tour that will visit cities like Sheffield, Birmingham and Leeds. He announced the highly anticipated news on Facebook to his 2.8m followers.

General tickets will go on sale this Saturday November 12 at 10am. Tickets will be available to purchase via See Tickets and Ticketmaster. Peter Kay tickets will also be available to purchase through the M&S Bank Arena website, where you can set up an alert to remind you about the ticket sale.

Booking and admin fees will be included in the price via M&S Bank Arena and SeeTickets, and Ticketmaster prices are yet to be confirmed.
