Everton fans have been reacting to the news that the club has been hit with an unprecedented Premier League points deduction after being found guilty of breaching the competition's profit and sustainability rules.
It has today been confirmed that the Blues have been deducted 10 points. The punishment is the biggest sanction in the Premier League's history.
It means Everton drop down from 14th in the table on 14 points to second from bottom on four points. That leaves Sean Dyche's side two points from safety from Luton Town in 17th.
The Blues have confirmed they will appeal against the decision. Colin Chong, the club's interim chief executive, called the sanction "disproportionate and wholly unjust".
That sentiment is shared by Evertonians, who have been punished for matters beyond their control. This is what some have been saying on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, pointing to the fact that the six clubs who tried to breakaway into the European Super League in 2021 were sanctioned with £3.5m fines, and to the fact that Manchester City are still being investigated by the Premier League after being hit with 115 charges for allegedly breaking profit and sustainability rules.
Others, meanwhile, just cannot wait to get back to Goodison Park.
Everton return to action on Sunday, November 26 when they welcome Manchester United to Goodison.
