Liverpool city centre's H&M store has explained why it suddenly closed.

A sign was placed in the window of the clothing store's Church Street branch on Monday, November 20, to tell customers it was closed due to "unforeseen circumstances". The sign read: "We are currently closed due to unforeseen circumstances. We apologies for any inconvenience."

A spokesperson from H&M told The ECHO the store was closed due to a leak. They confirmed the store would be reopening this week.

A spokesperson said: "The store was closed due to a building leak, but we hope to be open for trading tomorrow morning."

The store used to be based in Liverpool ONE on Paradise Street before it moved to the former BHS building on Church Street in 2018. The building had been vacant after the collapse of BHS before opening as a H&M on November 30, 2018.
