A Liverpool restaurant is opening on Christmas Day for those who would otherwise be spending the day alone.
Blackdoor Bar and Bistro in West Derby Village has invited people to go down for an hour between 11am and 12pm for hot drinks, sandwiches and cakes around the fire - something they are providing for free.
Posting to Instagram, the neighbourhood restaurant said: "For anyone who is spending Christmas Day alone or would like some company, Blackdoor will be open this Christmas Day for one hour between 11am-12pm with a friendly face, the fire on and some hot drinks, sandwiches and cakes, free of charge."

James Worrall, 35, who owns Blackdoor with his fiancée Sian, told the ECHO: "We meet lots of lonely people here, many of them come in for a chat and a coffee. So we decided last year to open up on Christmas and give an hour of our day to people - it was well received and people enjoyed it, so we're doing it again this year.
"We want to give something back, especially at a time when it feels like the world is falling apart. No one should be alone on Christmas - I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.
"Anyone who wants company is welcome."
Blackdoor Bar and Bistro is located at 19 Almonds Green, West Derby Village, Liverpool L12 5HJ.
