Royal Liverpool Hospital
The Royal Liverpool University Hospital is a major teaching and research hospital based on the edge of Liverpool city centre. It opened in 1978 and was designed to replace three other city centre acute hospitals that existed at the time. In December 2013, a landmark £429 million redevelopment plan was put into operation and the New Royal is expected to fully open in 2018, although the scheme has been beset by problems and delays.
