Speke
Home of Liverpool John Lennon Airport Speke lies on the southern fringes of the city. The old Art Deco airport terminal, once packed with screaming Beatles fans welcoming home their idols, is now a hotel. The Shop Direct Group is based in Speke while 100ft-high illuminated sculpture the Mersey Wave dominates the southern gateway to the city. National Trust property and timber-framed manor house Speke Hall dates back to the Tudor period.
