Wallasey
Wallasey is the home of Wirral town hall and Wirral council's headquarters. The UK's first guide dog training school, the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association, was founded in Wallasey in 1931 and the first passenger hovercraft service operated between Leasowe and Rhyl in the early 1960s. Neighbouring seaside resort New Brighton is famous for Fort Perch Rock, a defence site once known as the "little Gibraltar of the Mersey". World of Sport presented Dickie Davies was born in Wallasey as was former England and Lions star Austin Healey.
